A 5.1 mile lightly trafficked loop trail is located near Mancos, Colorado, that features a great forest setting, as well as a 13.8-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail that features a lake. Hiking, jeep and ATV tours, and river rafting are just a few of the many draws to this recreational paradise. Guests can hike to the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers, and see where the two formidable bodies of water each fight to retain their own identities. The Monument, declared a national monument in 2000, has been used for thousands of years. Chicken Creek Nordic area offers beautifully groomed trails. Colorado's highest and steepest ski mountain offers expert terrain. Mancos also is featuring a "2nd Saturday Art Walk " on July 9, August 13, and September 10 from 4-7 pm. Arches NP has over 2,000 natural stone arches in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks, amid a landscape of contrasting colors, land forms and textures unlike any other in the world. A day trip of about 2 hours each way will bring you to Arches National Park made famous by Edward Abbey in Desert Solitaire. The town of Dolores, about 15 miles from Starry Nights Ranch B & B, will be holding its Dolores River Festival this year on Saturday, June 4th, at Joe Rowell Park. This Saturday, June 18th is annual Burrofest at Boyle Park starting at 10am. The visitor center and museum always has great exhibits focusing on archeological sites in the 4 Corners region, local Native Americans, and the history of the area. Artisans of Mancos is 6 km away. Kilgore American Indian Art is 6 km away. Majestic Dude Ranch is 7 km away.
Local Activities Details
A great group of volunteers spend many hours taking care of the more than 10 miles of trails for both classic and skate skiing. Ouray, with no nearby ski area to attract the tourism of other alpine Colorado towns. This nano brewery offers great beer crafted in 2 to 7 barrel batches covering a broad range of beer styles. The longest-running offering for tourists and locals originally taken by miners, cowboys and the area's first settlers takes about 3 1/2 hours. Guests remember that Far View is located about 15 miles from the entrance to the park along a winding road.
