Dunton Hot Springs, near Telluride Regional (50 km away), is a romantic 1800's ghost town in an alpine valley. Thirteen accommodations provide mountain and meadow views. Cabins feature high-speed wireless internet and video conferencing in the dance hall. Choices range from the Well House with a private hot spring and cold plunge, to the Potter House with king bedrooms, a kitchen, and a deck. Other options include the Vertical Log with king beds and a loft, Christy's Tent with a shower and a view, and Major Ross with a private outdoor shower near the hot springs. Bjoerkmans has a tub. Dolores offers a queen bed and a deck. Tipping features two floors, and Dunton Store has a king bed and a loft. New House includes a king bedroom, loft, and fireplace. Geysir has a king bed and shower.

Regional Dining Experience

Dunton's food focuses on regional cooking using local ingredients. There is no standard a-la-carte menu. Meals are based on guest preferences and seasonal ingredients. Guests can dine at the communal table in the saloon, in the dance hall, or at the chef's counter. Breakfast includes coffees, pastries, and granola from 8-10am. Lunch is served at 1pm in the saloon, or as a picnic. Dinner offers a communal table, romantic dining, or chef's table experience. Starter and entree examples include hot asparagus soup, Chef Justin Brunson's T-Bone, Eyrie Vinyards Estate Pinot Gris - Pinot Gris, Dundee Hills, Oregon and Snapper, confit turnip, farrow, pickled beet stem.

Activities and Wellness

Dunton's springs include calcium bicarbonate with iron, manganese, and lithium. Options to enjoy include the 19th-century Bathhouse, the source under the stars, the pool outside the Bathhouse, the pool behind the Dunton Store cabin, and inside Well House cabin. Summer activities feature horseback riding, fly fishing on the West Fork of the Dolores, hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Spring provides off-road tours to Imogene Pass, Ophir Pass, and Black Bear Pass, plus rafting on the San Miguel River and paddle boarding at Trout Lake. Winter offers snowshoeing, dog sledding, Nordic skiing with Wendy Wegner's trails, ice climbing, and snowmobiling. The Spa offers treatments using Susanne Kaufmann products.

The property is near Canyons of the Ancients National Monument (61 miles), Mesa Verde National Park (74 miles), and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (104 miles). Daily flights arrive at Durango, Telluride, Cortez and Montrose. Private car transfers are available from these airports. Daily service to the region through Durango, Telluride, Cortez and Montrose.
